The Philosophy

Thyroid problems are frequently hereditary and are five to eight times more common in women. Even if subtle, many thyroid problems may leave women exhausted, depressed, with menstrual disorders or infertility. POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION

The Philosophy

Having a child should be the highlight of your life, but the joy may be overshadowed if you develop postpartum depression. Hormone Health Strategies understands this neuroendocrine condition and our staff provides women with the evaluation treatment options and reassurances they need to regain energy and improve well-being.

Who Needs a Consultation?

Women who have had a child within the previous year who are experiencing anxiety, depression, exhaustion, fuzzy thinking, palpitations, headaches, low sex drive, and other “vague” symptoms that have been present longer than a month.

PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME (PMS)

The Philosophy

PMS is a neuroendocrine condition that affects between 40-60% of women. Approximately 5-10% of women with PMS describe marked disruption in ability to function at home and work. PMS is a set of symptoms that recur before each menstrual cycle and are generally absent for at least the week after menstruation. Hormone Health Strategies offers a unique combination of evaluation and treatment modalities in a comprehensive package aimed at developing healthy lifestyle habits, improved hormonal balance, and successful stress reduction approaches to combat the disruptive effects of PMS.

Who Should Consider a Consultation?

Women from puberty to menopause who have recurring emotional and physical symptoms with most menstrual cycles. True PMS symptoms begin after ovulation and then resolve with the onset of bleeding.

The Philosophy

This unique multidisciplinary approach helps women who have unresolved hormone-related health problems regain their health and happiness.

Who Needs A Hormonal Evaluation?

  • Women of all ages who suspect they have hormone-related problems

  • Women with hypothyroidism, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), postpartum depression, perimenopause or postmenopausal problems

  • Women with chronic, unresolved depression not responding to the usual medications

  • Women with chronic fatigue or multiple chemical sensititivities, particularly if those problems began during sudden severe stress that caused loss of menstrual periods, or following a pregnancy, or after hysterectomy or tubal ligation, or during the transition to menopause.

“HORMONAL HEADACHES"

The Philosophy

Many women suffer from chronic pain and recurring migraines, often triggered by certain times of the menstrual cycle or postpartum or perimenopause when estradiol is falling. These hormone triggers are often overlooked in most medical settings that treat headaches. At Hormone Health Strategies, we evaluated women with hormonally-triggered headaches and help them more effectively manage the headache triggers with approaches to help even out the hormone fluctuations. Dr. Vliet has successfully helped thousands of women reduce or eliminate the hormone changes that trigger migraines and other types of headaches.
